Nueva School Students Make a Difference at Linda Mar Beach
On a sunny early Spring day, a group of Nueva School students gathered at Linda Mar beach, ready to make a difference. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and dedication, the Nueva School team set out to clean up the area and make it a better place for everyone.
The team worked tirelessly for several hours cleaning the trails and the parking lot, and even picking up microplastics along the beach itself to keep trash from entering the ocean and harming our ecosystem.
One of the most striking moments of the cleanup was when the team came across mats of reeds filled with trash. It was a shocking reminder of just how much waste is out there, and how important it is to take action to keep it from entering our waterways and harming marine life.
In total, the team collected an impressive 65 pounds of waste, including a staggering 841 cigarette butts! It’s hard to imagine how much of an impact those tiny cigarette butts can have on our environment, but the Nueva School team saw firsthand the damage they can cause.
Thank you, Nueva School team, for your hard work. You have made a real difference in your community, and your efforts are an inspiration to us all.
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
