Past Event: Escape to the Headlands

The Charlie Brown Tree event has become:

Escape to the Headlands – Pedro Point Headlands

Thanksgiving Sunday, November 29th

Please Mark your Calendars! Plan your Thanksgiving Weekend Escape!

The Pacifica Land Trust would like to invite the public to Escape to the Headlands, the Pedro Point Headlands that is, on Sunday, November 29th from 10am to 2.00pm. Kick off the holiday season with a gratitude hike, plenty of merriment and special treats for the kids! This wonderful property has been the site of 5 Charlie Brown Tree events and numerous native plant and bird hikes, but this event is designed for you and your family to just get outside in nature; to escape the shopping and the hustle and bustle, to breath fresh air, to experience this unique coastal habitat, and to just be outside in a beautiful place very close to home! Maybe you will see wildlife and birds, for sure you will see native plants, breath fresh air, and experience nature with wonderful people.

Escape to the Headlands, come take a hike or just hang out near the staging area to enjoy the outdoors. From a gentle sloped half to one mile to a steep inclined one mile or even a great 4 -6 mile hike that includes the connected Devils Slide trail there is hiking for all ages and skill.

This will be a MERRY event for young and young at heart, with  hot cider, snacks and cheer, and plenty of surprises too. It just might make the best memories of the Holiday season!

Participants should check in at the Castle Kitchen and Bath parking lot between 10am and 1.00pm and plan to return no later than 2pm. You will be safely transported to and from the Pedro Point Headlands staging area. Long sleeve shirts, pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. Evergreen and natural  materials will be available for you to take home for decorations or wreaths. Due to the wonderful success of the previous Charlie Brown Tree events, there are few if any trees suitable even for Charlie Brown so this year we will appreciate the native plants instead.

Hiking to some of the bluffs for the spectacular views of the ocean, Devils Slide, Shelter Cove and beyond can be quite rigorous but usually considered well worth it.

The Pedro Point Headlands stewardship program and this event are brought to you by the Pacifica Land Trust, funded by the CA Coastal Commission and supported by the Pedro Point Community Association.

Donations to the Pacifica Land Trust are always truly appreciated and will help preserve, protect and restore these magnificent headlands for us and future generations. Happy escaping into nature to you.  To learn more about our ongoing stewardship and restoration efforts, go to www.pedropointheadlands.org
