A “Whaleforce” of A Cleanup At Linda Mar Beach!
Our Third Saturday cleanup on August 17, 2024 was truly a “Whaleforce” of activity! Whales greeted us and stayed with us all morning, just 50 yards offshore—we couldn’t even keep track of all their breaches! And wow, what a group from the Whaleforce Teens! Charlie, Ella, Dylan, Shea, Juliet and Keaton joined Jim, Ana and Alberto and Naturalist Julie for a smaller but mighty cleanup: 44 volunteers total. Groups went up and down the beach, across Highway 1, and down to the parking areas, bringing back 80 pounds of trash, 15 pounds of recyclables and 402 cigarette butts—all while having a great time!
All volunteers promised to be back to help out for Coastal Cleanup Day. NCL Crystal Springs was also there in full and had a great time! After the cleanup, volunteers headed to Starbucks for a well-deserved snack!
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
