A Global Effort for a Cleaner San Pedro Creek

This month’s San Pedro Creek cleanup was a resounding success, welcoming 20 enthusiastic participants, with a significant portion being youth visitors from Japan. Our environmental champions brought an infectious energy, diving into the work with eagerness and a genuine desire to help. Their efforts were nothing short of remarkable as they tackled heavy, bulky items such as bicycle tires and parts and of course, discarded fireworks from Independence Day celebrations. One dedicated individual also collected an astounding 254 cigarette butts, contributing to our total haul of 382 pounds of debris removed from the creek and its surroundings.

The cleanup was not just about removing trash, but also an educational experience with Greg educating the group about marine mammals and their importance to our ecosystem. The morning was filled with learning, fun, and a sense of accomplishment as the group worked together to restore the natural beauty of San Pedro Creek. We’re already looking forward to next month’s cleanup!

We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
