Come see the new Headlands! Major restoration thru an OHV (California – Off-Highway Vehicle) grant has transformed the South Ridge Trail, reduced the slopes of the Bluff Trail and restored the natural topography thru-out the headlands to improve water absorption and runoff. A new So. Ridge trail has been completed. There is more planting work to do yet, but we are proud to say we are almost done!
Kick off your holiday season with a gratitude hike, plenty of merriment and special treats for the kids right here in Pacifica!
- get outside in nature
- escape the shopping and the hustle and bustle
- breath fresh air
- experience this unique coastal habitat
- see the newly restored Headlands
- make family/friend memories for a lifetime
Escape to the Headlands, come take a hike or just hang out near the staging area to enjoy the outdoors. From a gentle sloped half to one mile to a steep inclined one mile or even a great 4 -6 mile hike that includes the connected Devils Slide trail there is hiking for all ages and skill.
This MERRY event will feature hot cider, snacks and cheer, a chance to learn about the natural habitat with learning stations, even some restoration pit stops for those who wish to plant a native or make a difference and give back.
Your “Escape to the Headlands” just might make the best memories of the Holiday season!
Check in at the Castle Kitchen and Bath parking lot between 10am and 1.00pm and you will be safely transported to and from the Pedro Point Headlands staging area for your adventure. Return when you are ready but no later than 2pm.
Long sleeve shirts, pants and sturdy shoes are recommended.
Hiking to some of the bluffs for the spectacular views of the ocean, Devils Slide, Shelter Cove and beyond can be quite rigorous but usually considered well worth it.
The Pedro Point Headlands stewardship program and this event are brought to you by the Pacifica Land Trust, funded by the CA Coastal Commission and supported by the Pedro Point Community Association.
Donations to the Pacifica Land Trust are always truly appreciated and will help preserve, protect and restore these magnificent headlands for us and future generations.
