We couldn’t believe our eyes when we arrived at Thornton Vista in Daly City for December’s cleanup event. The stunning overlook was covered in beer bottles haphazardly tossed around the grounds. It was a sad and disheartening sight! Especially considering all of the work that our volunteers have done in the past to keep this location looking clean and serene.

Our 23 volunteers were on a mission to clean up every last bottle and piece of styrofoam. Together, they collected a staggering:

• 80 pounds of recyclables
• 62 pounds of landfill trash
• 205 cigarette butts

We’re so proud of their effort. The small yet might team of volunteers really came together to show us what it meant to be Earth Heroes.
