Labor Day Cleanup Highlights

It was an overcast start to a beautiful holiday weekend at Surfer’s Beach, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm! An incredible group of 79 volunteers came together to make a big difference. The beach cleanup crew saw a familiar sight as Julie and Natalie returned to join the effort after a short hiatus, and we welcomed Dylan to his first cleanup jam session alongside regulars Nathan and Maggie. Special thanks to Gail for bringing Elle, and a big shoutout to Julio and Dante at the HarborMaster station for their invaluable support—your help was truly appreciated!

Together, we collected 139 pounds of trash, 34 pounds of recyclables, and a staggering 1,114 cigarette butts (a labor-intensive task, fitting for Labor Day weekend), pushing us closer to cleaner, healthier beaches.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our next cleanup which will be part of our big California Coastal Cleanup on September 21st. We’ll be meeting behind the HarborMaster station at Pillar Point Harbor. Let’s make it another unforgettable day of community, care, and coastal conservation!

We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
