Surfers Beach Lobster Mascot Supervises the Success
Another beautiful morning in paradise at the Surfers Beach/Pillar Point cleanup on January 27, 2024! We could not have asked for a more gorgeous morning for this location’s first cleanup of 2024 The sun was out, the air was fresh, and by the time we finished, the ground was sparkling clean as well! And, lucky for us, the fish guts bin was newly emptied.
Our new location at the boat launch area turned out perfect for us, and we found ourselves greeted by not only a surge of enthusiasm but also increased foot traffic, suggesting our efforts are making waves in the community. I even think we had more foot traffic through there.
41 volunteers combed the sands and shores, amassing 65 pounds of trash, 27 pounds of recyclables, and a staggering 577 cigarette butts
Thank you, team, for a great morning, and we extend our gratitude to the Harbor patrol, particularly Dante and his vigilant team, for their support amidst the bustling crab season.
Thank you also to our very own lobster mascot, Cleo, who diligently supervised the cleanup (and sneaked in a few naps while on the job).
Our next cleanup is February 24th and we will be meeting at the new boat launch location again. Save the date and be sure to register for the next one!
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
