MLK Service Day Success at Linda Mar Beach
Well, after four days of fretting and lots of emails discussing the rain, our volunteers who signed up for MLK Service Day at Linda Mar Beach made it a successful cleanup!
Despite a persistent drizzle right up until the 9:00 am cleanup kickoff, the event was a success and 150 volunteers showed up to clean up Linda Mar Beach for MLK Day of Service. Volunteers from Saint Francis High School of Mountain View played a pivotal role, not only contributing a strong presence but also assisting with setup once the rain subsided.
Ana delivered her regular fantastic and inspiring speech, and off the volunteers went, representing St. Francis HS, Riordan HS, California Conservation Corps Solano, and various other participants who braved blustery conditions to have a great time and make a positive impact on the environment! Some groups, true heroes, spent over an hour meticulously cleaning tiny plastic pieces from the seaweed, resulting in completely full buckets. After the cleanup, some headed to help with the Linda Mar Habitat Restoration, while others made their way to Taco Bell for a well-earned treat.
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
