Surf’s Up, 90 Pounds of Trash Down!
What a beautiful day at Linda Mar Beach at one of the smoothest cleanups we’ve had in December! The surf was up but parking was easy and all volunteers arrived promptly by 9:00 am and with a sharp cleanup finale at 10:59 am!
Jim, Ana, Annabelle and juniors, Juliana and Charlie joined Naturalist, Abby for this gorgeous cleanup day, and our biggest group of participants joined us all the way from Fairfield, representing the California Conservation Corps. CCC, YMSL, three different high school groups, middle school locals and first-timers all jumped right in, cleaned the beach from north to south, across the creek, across Highway 1, and into the Pedro Point parking lot, coming up with 90 pounds of trash (including some big, painted, nailed boards!), 20 pounds recycling, 6 pounds of compost, and 270 cigarette butts! As we often see, almost everyone headed to World Famous Taco Bell to finish off their Linda Mar Beach experience!
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
