Trash to Triumph in Foster City
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated individuals and institutions that joined forces to clean up the Foster City Pedway and its surroundings on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the efforts of Hillsdale High School, Saint Catherine of Siena, other various schools, and numerous individuals proved that even rainy days won’t hinder our community spirit and efforts.
This cleanup initiative yielded impressive results, including 51 total volunteers and the removal of 137 pounds of landfill waste, 20 pounds of recyclables, and a whopping 535 cigarette butts. Beyond the usual items, the cleanup also unearthed interesting finds such as a basketball, a sheet of plywood, and an orange traffic cone, adding a touch of curiosity to the day’s activities. These stats truly showcase the impact that collective action can have on environmental stewardship, and this cleanup’s success serves as a testament to the power of community collaboration in fostering a cleaner, healthier environment for all.
Pacific Beach Coalition is immensely thankful for the time and energy invested by these volunteers, as their commitment enables the organization to fulfill its mission and contribute positively to the local communities.
We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
