Rockaway Beach, located on the coast of California, has been battered by storms over the past few months, leaving a trail of debris and trash in its wake. However, on February 4th, the skies finally opened up enough for a group of 40 volunteers to come together and clean up the beach.

The effort was a great success, and volunteers collected a total of 45 pounds of trash and 600 cigarette butts from the beach. The cleanup was a critical step in helping the beach recover from the damage caused by the recent storms.

What was especially heartening was the number of high school students who joined the volunteer effort from around the Bay Area. Five different high schools were represented, and the organizers are hoping to see even more students in future clean ups.

This event serves as a reminder of the importance of community and the power of collective action. By coming together and taking action, we can make a real difference in our environment and our communities. It’s heartwarming to see young people taking an interest in protecting the natural world and making a positive impact on their communities.

The cleanup effort was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, as well as the organizers who coordinated the event. Thank you to each volunteer who came out to make this community a safer and better place to protect the natural environment.
