65 Volunteers at Surfer’s Beach Cleanup

A group of volunteers raising their hands stand with trash pickers and buckets in front of a harbor

Pacific Beach Coalition was joined by 65 eager volunteers at Surfer’s Beach in Half Moon Bay for our November 30, 2024 beach cleanup. Mother Nature graced us with sunshine and warm temperatures making it a gorgeous day to clean up the harbor.

Together, our group collected:

  • 115 pounds of trash
  • 15 pounds of recyclables
  • 816 cigarette butts

We even uncovered a plastic CAT-branded construction toy. Plus, naturalist Mary was on site to educate and inspire volunteers about topics such as microplastics, the impact of trash on the delicate coastal ecosystem and marine creatures.

We’re so grateful for everyone who chose to spend their time outdoors doing good things for the environment on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

You can make a difference, too, by joining one of our monthly beach cleanups. Take a look at our schedule and sign up for an upcoming date. We hope to see you soon!
