2 Dolphins and Some “Interesting” Finds at Esplanade
A handful of hardy volunteers and neighbors showed up Thursday afternoon to help clean up Esplanade Beach. In addition to five pounds of trash and styrofoam pieces large and small, more than 100 cigarette butts were collected from the street, ground and the black bucket by the benches. “Interesting” finds included a barnacle-encrusted fishing buoy, another chunk of blue crate, a four-foot length of drain grate and the sole of a large leather shoe. Thank you for your time; your efforts truly make a difference! And as we were packing up to go, a whale, accompanied by two dolphins, swam by quite near shore, at one point spy hopping, as if to get a look at how clean the beach was and offer nature’s thanks.
